Design in Motion
About Design in Motion
V&A Museum of Design Dundee will be more than just a place to visit. In advance of opening, learning, skills development and inspiring creativity is already central to what we do.
Our programmes are designed specifically with our audiences in mind – from families, schools, students and young people to business and communities.
Design in Motion, a collaboration with the Travelling Gallery, was part of our pre-opening programme. The designers featured all used digital technologies to push the boundaries of their discipline, enabling them to experiment, play and innovate. The exhibition demonstrated how design can be put to work to reconstruct our heritage, visualise the unseen, and create products not previously possible
Design in Motion was developed in partnership with the Travelling Gallery and generously supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery, The Mathew Trust, Heritage Lottery Fund, Creative Scotland, The Scottish Government, and City of Edinburgh Council. Travelling Gallery Curator Alison Chisholm says the current Design in Motion tour is a rare move away from the group’s roots in contemporary art - see the full interview here.
Design in Motion visited over 40 schools and colleges across Scotland, meeting pupils, teachers and students through our scheduled tours of the exhibition.
An Inspiration Kit was designed to inspire learners and educators to explore digital design through new and exciting learning experiences. This can be downloaded here.
